We’re going to try and get the floors in the front room finished so we can start some Christmas decorating. We would be able to put the tree up in any case. At the same time, I would like to get all of the trim up in the library. We did a door and a window last weekend but still have baseboards, wainscot and crown moulding to do. There isn’t much floor left, so hopefully we can do both. (I think Micah is still coming over to help out)

I need to make steak & Guiness pie. It’s cold enough and sounds soooo good. We’ve been craving it this last week. But I do need to novel. Both of us do.

We’re staying home for the actual holiday. It’s too long of a drive to WV to do Christmas and Thanksgiving, so we’re giving it a miss this year and doing Cornish hens at home. It’ll be nice. We need a proper break anyway. There was the thought of going to my aunt’s house in Alabama, but that drive is just as far as Hurrican, WV. So that’s out too.

Over Thanksgiving we have a few projects planned:

We need to decorate the house for Christmas. I’m not doing lights outside because our house is too awkward. For one, I don’t have a tall enough ladder to get where I need to to fix the lights to the outside of the house. Secondly, the only outdoor power outlet is at the back of the house. I’m not sure why they didn’t put one anywhere else, but thems the breaks. So no lights outside. It’s nice to have a fake tree when our stationary status is so volatile. The easier, the better I say.

We are planning to just watch a ton of Christmas movies that weekend as well while we finish our novels.

That’s super exciting for me, as I have a lot more fun designing for other people than I do for myself. I’ve got a couple of ideas in mind and he’s getting some stuff together, but I’m really excited to be working on this project for him.

I’ll keep ya’ll abrest of the situation when it starts going. I’m stoked.

And I’m also currently dumping a homemade cooking show from one of my colleagues. Weird. Super weird. Oh well.

On a brighter note, one of the sites I manage is doing really well hits-wise (for its normal rankings anyway). That’s the one thing that is making me feel good about today. That and I drank Jasmine tea at lunch. Mmmm.

And! Jessica is back from her field trip. Which means I can hang out with her when I get home. Though I will most likely be ignoring her for the sake of noveling. Maybe this is a sad night.

• They can’t send images separate from a Word document but wonder why they get messed up in the conversion.
• They send me the wrong content and I work hours to get it up just to find out it’s wrong and I have to redo it.
• They insist on calling me instead of emailing. Come on! I don’t need a phone call, I just need the correct information. Email is SO much more efficient for me.
• They think theirs is the only project I’m working on. And they give me their content last minute. Not the one week ahead of time policy we have in place.
• They don’t know how to use a computer!!!

Makes me so mad. Anyway. Thank you blog for letting me vent.

It’s starting with a special chapel, then a dedication of a sculpture that is outside of the dorm name for his wife who passed away last year of cancer. Then there are fireside chats, a luncheon with town community members and tonight the bi-annual President’s Society Dinner.

I was asked this morning to film the events. Yes, hours before. So I’m scrambling to charge batteries and free up space on my memory cards. It’s not as if I just have a video rig ready to go at a moments’ notice. I think I’ll make it, but it’s been a rough morning already. I’m not sure I’m running on all cylinders yet. Maybe need more coffee.

That’s what I like about social networking — the loose communities that can develop. We’re able to have friends in other parts of the world that we can converse with daily or hourly, which helps us maintain community. Facebook has gotten us to connect to old friends and classmates we may never have seen or heard from again otherwise, MySpace lets us show off how crappy our layout skills are (just kidding… for me anyway, my design skills rock!) and connect with random folks, LinkeIn keeps us connected to the professionals we networked with at a conference or worked for briefly freelancing, and Twitter gives us constant voices of friends around the world.

Sure, it can be construed as information overload by some, but I’m adept to not being overloaded, which is how I can handle of this. And I really do like the “meeting” new people aspects. I’ve met a couple of cool people through NaNo and last.fm in just the past couple of days. yay!
